221 North 7th Street, is a tender novel set in the South, a love story which starts the reader in the present, then gently sweeps to the 1950’s and then the story ends where it previously started. Yet, this novel stands alone in two important ways. First, it is one of the few love stories written about editing ones historical memories of abuse, rejection, the feeling of being unloved and erasing childhood scars that follows a person throughout their adult lives. Even more importantly, however, 221 North 7th Street, is the first novel that fully describes the heart-wrenching effect of abuse and trauma that can effect a person in relationships, causing multiple marriages and heart breaks causing a person to turn a blind eye to true love. However, 221 north 7th Street is a story of how JoMarie and Grover found true love in each other against all odds, which ultimately the story ends in happiness.
